Karin Muraszko, MD
Professor
Neurological Surgery
Kennedy Miller, MD
Medical Student
Presentation 1
Infants with Grade III/IV intraventricular hemorrhage who have intraventricular shunts should receive routine imaging studies to ensure proper shunt functioning and to screen for asymptomatic shunt failure, which can lead to devastating neurological complications if left untreated. Dr. Muraszko and medical student Miller have initiated a project to determine whether there are inequities in the routine follow-up care provided to these infants.
Anisha Coughlin, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor
Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
Presentation 2
Sepsis, a life-threatening condition, can result in significant morbidity and mortality. Prompt recognition and management of sepsis is critical to mitigating these outcomes. Dr. Coughlin is assessing any potential inequity in the sepsis detection and management measures at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital.
