PEACH project poster wins blue ribbon

One of our PEACH projects was honored at the inaugural Quality and Safety Day at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital on April 25.

The poster submission for the kangaroo (skin-to-skin) care project received a reviewer's choice blue ribbon. The project, headed by Rachael Pace, a senior clinical information analyst in the Neonatology Division at Mott, found a significant gap in kangaroo care between White infants and infants of minority racial groups. PEACH team members Cori Davis; Fola Odetola, MD; Jessamyn Ressler-Maerlender, MPH; and Jennifer Stout, RN were also authors on the poster, as well as Paris Ekeke and Rebecca Vartanian, neonatologists in the Brandon Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Mott.

Research shows that kangaroo care is vital to ensuring optimal immediate and long-term cognitive, social, and behavioral outcomes for children born preterm or with low birth weight.
