Clinical Assistant Professor

Pediatric Emergency Medicine

Catherine Cheng, DO

Fellow

Pediatric Emergency Medicine

 Presentation 1

Emergency departments often encounter patients presenting for accidental ingestions -- the consumption of a harmful substance such as a household chemical or medication. Providers use discretion to determine whether these ingestions signal a need for Child Protective Services evaluation. Drs. Cator and Cheng examine whether bias impacts their decision making in the Mott Hospital Emergency Department.

Elizabeth Campbell, MD

Clinical Assistant Professor

Obstetrics and Gynecology

Joanne Bailey, CNM, PhD,

Director, Nurse-Midwifery

Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital

Presentation 2

Cesarean births are essential and life-saving surgeries when needed but can put mothers/birthing parents at unnecessary risk of health problems if performed when there is not a medical need. Drs. Campbell and Bailey discuss the work being done at Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital to safely reduce cesarean birth and improve equity in care.
