Although critical in some circumstances for patient safety and/or staff protection, using restraints poses significant ethical, medical and legal risks. Dr. Rasmussen investigates whether there are inequities in the use of restraints for pediatric patients within Michigan Medicine in children’s emergency services and psychiatric emergency services .
